Thanks! So long as it feels like a definitive version of the 1st Gen games, the hack is doing its job. Having options for music like that is pretty dang important, especially if the classic music is so...classic. It's the reason I started the hack in the first place!

As per the OP, the FireRed ROM used is BPRE v1.0. You'll know it because the base ROM will lack the word "Presents" on the Game Freak opening screen.

As for the locations of the Wardrobe art, look at the documentation for locations in the ROM for each custom sprite. They'll appear right after the map information. If there isn't a listing for a specific sprite, which is the case for all art related to the female trainer, it's in the same location as the original art.

Also, if you intend to use the Wardrobe art in a hack that you will release to others, please be sure to give me credit for the sprite edits.

GB Player Patch Update

My work on the hack progresses despite my silence! I've updated Throwback to version 3.8 with an overhaul to the GB Player. New sounds are in the game, and the ones in the game have had various tweaks and error fixes.

Make sure your save states have the GB Player disabled before you update, lest the game potentially crash upon loading them.

GB Player:

• Major bug fix: Music no longer fails to play if the GB Player is used while the current song is fading out.
• The Level Up jingle is now in the game.
• The slot machine jingles have been replaced by a previously-existing sound effect that is more casino-esque (R/G/B/Y had no sound for them; do note that no music at all played in that game during payout). No more trumpets!
• Songs using duty cylcing in R/G/B/Y (the Game Freak jingle and Jigglypuff's Song) are now played back entirely through DirectSound. Mind the non-optimal sound playback, a victim of the GBA's infamous sound chip.
• The Evolution Start jingle is now present as a DirectSound/GB Synth hybrid song.
• Modulation in all songs it's used in has been altered to make the feature accurate in each song when compared to their GameBoy versions. This fixes LFOs in all songs besides Silph Co., which is impossible to fix without drastically altering tempo and note structure.
• All short-sustained square wave 1s (and some others) now have the "note off with noise" trait checked. It fixes off noises in many songs, especially Viridian Forest.
• The two town songs from the 2nd Gen games now have more-properly realized noise tracks.
• The Credits, Intro Message, and Link Battle music are now less offensive.
• Non-maxed velocities for triangle wave tracks, which were significantly too soft before, have been boosted to levels more accurate to the original GameBoy songs.
• Odd louder/quieter tracks in most songs have been adjusted individually to best represent the way they're played back in the original games. It seems like using precise interpretation of velocity leads to not-quite-perfect results, making square waves too soft and triangle waves too loud. I've now compensated for this. If these discrepancies turn out to be a VBA-M emulation error, I will revert them in the future.
• Space taken up by GB Player songs has been optimized.

• Wrong notes in Pokémon Mansion, Lavender Town, Rival Theme, and Champion Battle
• Wrong voice in Evolution/Safari Zone and Route Theme 4
• Truncated note ends in Evolved and Badge jingles
• Triangle wave looping in Pokémon Mansion
• Different triangle wave pattern in Pokémon Tower
• Dropped note sustains in Mt. Moon and Champion Battle
• Accidental note sustain in Rival Theme
• Swapped sustains in Wild Pokémon Defeated and Trainer Defeated
• Incorrect sustain of a note in S.S. Anne
• Tempo fix to Gym Leader Battle

Oh. I've never looked into how that's done, nor do I intend to for the purposes of this hack. Needless to say, I won't be doing anything about it. This thread is for Pokémon Throwback, so I won't be discussing anything about making things for other hacks in it.

It's come to my attention that the full Throwback patch had a fatal error when fainting before entering your first Pokémon Center at the beginning of the game. I've made an update to the hack that fixes this issue. Among other little things, I've also included a patch that improves the quality of Pokémon cries for all Kanto and Johto Pokémon.

If you got Throwback from here, now's the time to get it fixed!
