Default Hack of the Month

So we have a hack of the month thing going on over at /r/PokemonROMhacks (the newest affiliate) and I was thinking maybe we can use that as the hack of the month here too? It would certainly make voting and stuff for the hack of the quarters and hack of the years easier than how I have it set up right now.

If we're doing it month to month, we'll eventually run out of eligible hacks, given the community size. Keeping it quarterly or bi-yearly would be better. But we can only do that once we've established ourselves. But by how things are looking, it is promising that something like that could be done starting next year.

Why not have the same projects win continuously? It was meant to be like an employee of the month... When I first started it 6 years ago it was meant to encourage more hacks.... =/

I agree with Mewthree9000... The hack of the month should be whatever hack is the most popular or most advancing during that month. If a hack is amazing for two months or more, then it should win for two months or more!

But, in my opinion, if a hack is constantly winning, people aren't going to bother with entering because they know that whatever has won in the past has won already. Plus, we can always make past hacks eligible on the quarterly/bi-annual basis as well. Having more time in between each contest could make for better results come voting time.

What about bi-monthly or tri-monthly? That's not too long apart and will give the community some time to create some new hacks.

I like the idea of having a quarterly contest. Makes it frequent enough that it stays interesting and has enough time in between for people to come up with new stuff.
